The Spiderwick Chronicles is an adaptation of the The Spiderwick Chronicles series by Holly Black and Tony DiTerlizzi. The series was picked up by The Roku Channel and premiered on April 19, 2024.
Synopsis[]
Helen and her children, 15-year-old fraternal twins Jared and Simon and their sister Mallory move to their ancestral home, Spiderwick. Jared discovers a boggart and realizes that magical creatures are real! The only one to believe him is his great-aunt Lucinda who implores Jared to find the pages of her father's field guide to magical creatures and protect them from the murderous Ogre, Mulgarath.

Production[]
In November of 2021, a television adaptation for the series was officially confirmed.
In August 2022, it was announced that Christian Slater was joining the cast as Mulgarath. Lyon Daniels and Noah Cottrell were also announced as part of the cast later that month. Joy Bryant was added as Helen Grace in August and Mychala Lee joined as Mallory Grace in September.
The series debuted on April 19, 2024, on The Roku Channel, with all eight episodes being released at once. Initially slated for release on Disney+ with six episodes, in August 2023, it was reported the series would not proceed on Disney+ due to cost-cutting. Roku secured exclusive U.S. rights to the series in October 2023.
