The Spiderwick Estate, more seldom known as the Spiderwick Mansion, was a large Victorian estate located southwest of a town in Maine,[1] New England.
Geography[]
The Estate is surrounded by a medium-sized meadow. South of it passed a small road known as Dulac Drive, and north was a small forest. A small river hosting a River Troll ran through the forest. In the north end of the forest is where the Goblin Camp is located. Northwest of the Estate is a Junkyard, and northeast of the Estate is a school.
History[]
The mansion was originally owned by Arthur Spiderwick until his disappearance. Arthur's daughter Lucinda tried to restore it but was sent to a sanitorium after goblins cut her. The house is now owned by Helen Grace and her children.
Behind the scenes[]
Tony DiTerlizzi based the design of the Spiderwick Estate on the many Victorian houses of the Pioneer Valley where he and Holly Black reside,[2] specifically two 19th century homes located in nearby towns, Greenfield and Northampton, in Massachusetts.[3][4]
